Very low density polyethylene is used in applications where you need a combination of toughness and impact strength with softness and flexibility.  Properties in this combination make VLDPE suitable for blow and injection molded parts, flexible sheets and films.

You will see VLDPE used as a film in applications such as meat and poultry packaging, medical packaging, heavy duty shipping sacks, stretch film, and shrink wrap.  Yet another property allows for other applications such as disposable gloves, diaper backsheet film, health care products, and upholstery film.  That property is the draw-down characteris which allow for very thin films to be manufactured.

VLDPEs are also used commonly in blend of other plastics to take advantage of their unique properties.  They are used to improve tear strength in polypropylene and high density polyethylene films.  They are also used in polypropylene blends to improve low temperature impact resistance.  Very low density polyethylene is chosen for applications that require good flex-life and kink resistance.
